Welcome to the South Broward Model Sailing Club Website. On April 1, 2009 a group of model sailboat enthusiasts met for the first time at CB Smith Park in Pembroke Pines, Florida. After an afternoon of sailing fun it was decided that this group was ready to officially form the South Broward Model Sailing Club. Our Commodore, Christian Flebbe, had been looking for a suitable sailing venue and came upon CB Smith Park on Flamingo Road in Pembroke Pines. Luckily, this beautiful park was receptive to this type of activity and welcomed the club with open arms. The park manager, Margie Grimes, has been a wonderful host and has offered to work with our club in every way possible. With Margie’s cooperation we have been able to deploy permanent course buoys on the lake and she brought in lake maintenance personnel to rid the lake of weeds. Additional plans at this time are placement of signs to advise park visitors of our sailing club.
At this time we are sailing on Sundays from noon until 3:00PM, or later if needed. The boats currently being sailed by the club are the CR914 and Soling 1M, however, if you have any kind of R/C sailboat you are welcome to come out on Sundays and meet and sail with our club.
Due to our ideal weather conditions year-round, South Florida is a wonderful location for a club such as ours. You are invited to come on out and have some fun and camaraderie with your fellow skippers.
